Dear Future Architects,

We’re excited to announce the structure of the 2025 beAr program, designed to accommodate a diverse range of participants. Based on the overwhelming participation in 2024, we are maintaining three distinct program categories:

  1. Lecturing (Beginner Program)
  • Target Participants: Graduated architects with little to no knowledge of the LAM Part III exam syllabus.
  • Objective: To build fundamentals knowledge in preparation for the 2026 and above for LAM Part III exams.
  1. Sharing (First-Time Attempt Candidates)
  • Target Participants: Graduated architects with intermediate knowledge of the LAM Part III syllabus.
  • Requirements: Must have registered with LAM for the September 2025 exam. Already submit logbook on Mac 2024.
  • Objective: To prepare candidates for their first attempt at the LAM Part III exam.
  1. Grooming (Repeater Candidates)
  • Target Participants: Graduated architects with advanced knowledge of the LAM Part III syllabus.
  • Objective: To support those planning to re-sit the LAM Part III exam in March 2025.

What is Lecturing Program?

The Lecturing Program is an informal gathering designed to unite Architects from various fields in a physical seminar platfrom. This setup aims to address the specific needs of rookie graduate architects, providing them with valuable insights and guidance from experienced professionals. The interactive nature of the sessions will foster learning and networking opportunities, helping newcomers navigate their careers in architecture.

Outlining the syllabus for a lecturing program related to architecture. Here’s a brief overview of each topic:

  1. Architects Act: This regulates the profession of architecture, detailing the requirements for registration, the duties of architects, and disciplinary measures.
  2. Development Act: Governs land development processes, including zoning, permits, and approvals required for construction projects.
  3. Housing Development Rules: Focuses on regulations specific to residential developments, including standards for planning, construction, and sales.
  4. Strata Title Act: Pertains to the ownership and management of buildings divided into individual units, addressing issues like common property and management responsibilities.
  5. National Land Code: This comprehensive legislation governs land tenure, management, and rights in the country, covering aspects from land registration to land use.
  6. Streets, Drainage & Building Act: Addresses the standards and regulations for public infrastructure, including roadways, drainage systems, and building safety.
  7. Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL): Sets the minimum standards for building construction, safety, health, and environmental sustainability.
  8. Condition of Contract: Covers the legal framework governing contractual agreements in construction, including rights, obligations, and liabilities of the parties involved.
  9. Payment Certificate: Discusses processes related to certifying payments in construction projects, ensuring contractors are paid for work completed.
  10. Other Act or Guideline: If there’s a specific topic or issue you’d like to talk about, feel free to share, and we can dive into it.

– There will be 15 gatherings covering various topics.
– The BeAr committee will apply for 8 CPD points based on 8 selected sessions.
– Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions to ensure they don’t miss out on CPD opportunities.
– A heavy breakfast will be provided at each gathering.

Where?

– Currently lecturing sessions is scheduled to be held at the Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Selangor. The location is convenience and there’s ample parking available.
– Any Changes to the venue of the program will be announced from time to time in BeAr website www.bear.org.my & via our Facebook (Bear Forum Community) should there be any changes.

How the Lecturing Program is conducted?

The Lecturing Program is designed as an informal seminar-style learning experience focused on the LAM Part III syllabus. Here’s an overview of how it’s conducted:

  1. Format: The program resembles a seminar, promoting an interactive learning environment.
  2. Expert Instructors: 2 or 3 professional architects are selected based on their expertise in the relevant topics. They will deliver lectures, share insights, and provide real-world experiences related to the subject matter.
  3. Participant Engagement: Participants are encouraged to ask questions and share their own knowledge and experiences. This collaborative approach helps deepen understanding of the topics discussed.
  4. No Formal Assessments: The program does not include revision sessions, mock oral exams, or written tests. The focus is on equipping participants with a general understanding of the LAM Part III syllabus rather than preparing for formal examinations.

This structure aims to create a relaxed yet informative atmosphere, facilitating a meaningful exchange of ideas and knowledge.

When?

– The lecturing sessions will be held every Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM. Participants should check the BeAr website or their Facebook page for any updates or changes to the schedule.
